Appointments with the Doctor or Nurse Practitioner
These are booked on the same day and only in special circumstances can be booked ahead. When you call the surgery our receptionists will take your contact details and ask for a brief outline of the problem. The receptionist can then book you in with the right person for either a telephone appointment or an appointment to come in to the surgery.
A standard appointment is for 10 minutes.
Appointments with Minor illness Nurses
Defined as a new acute problem of less than two weeks duration and you have not already seen the nurse or doctor about it.
Some of the minor illnesses they cover are:
- Coughs and colds
- Sore throats
- Chest infections
- Earache
- Hay fever
- In-growing toenail
- Insect bites
- Skin problems problems such as, psoriasis, eczema, rashes
- Urine infections (women only)
- Vaginal infections
- Sinusitis/Congestion
Appointments with Practice Nurse or Health Care assistants (HCA's)
Appointments with a practice nurse or HCA's can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance by telephone or by visiting reception. Our nurses and HCA's are able to provide the following services: (More information under Clinics and Services).
- Family Planning Checks and Advice
- Asthma and COPD clinics
- Diabetic Clinic
- Coronary Heart Disease Monitoring
- Cervical Smear Clinics
- Ear Syringing
- Travel Clinics and Immunisations
- Wound Care, Dressings and removal of Stitches
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
